Matt Pearce | Director

Matt has more than twenty five years' experience in the media industries in the UK, Australia and the Asia Pacific region. Prior to forming Talk2 Media and Events, he was International Director at Diversified Business Communications Inc. and also served as Managing Director of Diversified Exhibitions Australia Pty Ltd. Prior, he was General Manager – Publishing with PMP. Between 1999 and 2003, he was Managing Director for Sportsworld Media Group.. He’s also past Chair of the Exhibition & Event Association of Australasia.

Steve Malbourne | Director

Steve has twenty years’ experience in finance gained primarily in media and creative industries in Europe and Australia. He started his career in London with the Publicis group, where he took on increasingly senior roles with their design business. Between 2007 and early 2016, he was with Diversified Communications, starting as Finance Manager then Finance Director for Australia, and finally Finance Director for all Asia Pacific entities. He is a CPA and qualified from a Wharton executive course.

Meet the Team

Silke Calder | Event Director – AIME and International Business Development

Silke is a highly motivated sales and event specialist with over 20 years of experience in various fields including events and trade fairs as well as the creative/agency sector. She possesses exceptional communication and negotiation skills in both German and English with native ability, along with the skill to nurture long-term client relationships as well as lead and motivate a team. Having previously worked as the Head of Sales Guest Events at Messe Frankfurt Venue GmbH, as well as other companies across Germany, Australia and the UAE, Silke brings a unique set of skills and an international mindset to the Talk2 ME team.

James Laing | Event Director - Good Food & Wine Show

James cut his exhibition teeth in the UK working for event organiser, Single Market Events before moving to Australia in 2000 to launch the inaugural Good Food Wine Show. In 2014 James moved to Fairfax as Head of Food Events overseeing the national roll out of events such as Good Food Month and the Night Noodle Markets before stints as the Commercial Sales & Marketing Director at the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival and the Exhibition Portfolio Director at the Cake Bake & Sweets Show. The lure of the Good Food & Wine Show eventually proved too strong, however, and James returned to the helm of the show in September 2021.

Paul Mathers | Event Director - Enlit Australia

Having recently returned from the UK, Paul has managed more than fifteen different B2B and B2C exhibition brands, both in Australia and abroad over his 20-year career. Having cut his teeth at dmg world media before moving to Exhibitions & Trade Fairs, some of his achievements as an Event Director include Motorclassica, which he founded and managed for 10 years, the National 4×4 Outdoor Show, the Australian Construction Equipment Expo, designEX and the RACV Melbourne Home Show. In the energy industry he has managed international sales and sponsorships for both the World Gas Conference and LNG Conference & Exhibition. Outside of work, Paul is active in the international classic and collectable car movement and regular contributor to Retromotive magazine, in addition to having been a casual lecturer in event management at Victoria University.
